Bodega Forlong Tintilla de Rota 2016
This wine “Forlong Tintilla” is produced from an indigenous grape that is native to the sherry region: Rota is a coastal town in Andalucía, famous for the wine with the same name and for its US naval base. This in fact is one of the reasons why so many vineyards had to disappear and why the wines are now so rare.
Grapes are hand-harvested, de-stemmed, crushed and macerated and aged in terracotta tanks for 6 months. Afterwards it is transferred to French oak barrels for 10 months. Finally, the wine is bottled without any kind of treatment, so it conserves all the natural flavors. Wine is elaborated by following the prescriptions of the organic/biologic viniculture.
Nice fresh entrance, intense Full bodied and very persistent wine. Very good acidity and sweet tannins. On the nose is very elegant and intense with fresh red fruits, cinnamon and black pepper. Chalk and mineral flavors because of the Albarizas limestone based soil. 2+ hours of decanting produces a wine of extraordinary complexity with fabulous fruit on top of muted tanins.
