Domaine de l'Ecu - Pinot Noir Vin de France "Ange" 2017
Highly sought after....very hard to fine....
Domaine de l'Ecu is one of the top biodynamic producers in the Loire. This is a vineyard of 30 year old Pinot Noir vines planted on a Southwest facing slope of Gneiss soil. The wine is fermented whole cluster, aged in amphora for 8 months and bottles without fining, filtering or Sulfur. Very fresh and lively red fruit on the nose, violet, savory aromatics, green tea, exotic spice, medium bodied with a long, lingering finish.
"From first smell this wine will have you hooked. It is one of the greatest non-Burgundian Pinot Noirs I have ever tasted. If you had this in a blind tasting you would most likely think you were in a top village in Burgundy like Morey or Chambolle, but the story behind this extremely rare bottling is much more interesting."
