A 200-Year-Old Burgundy Tradition Meets a New Generation of Winemaking
One of Burgundy's historic wine houses has a new face — and she's making her mark!
Founded in 1832 in Nuits-Saint-Georges, Labouré-Roi has entrusted its winemaking to Célénie Desarbres, a talented young Burgundian oenologist whose first vintage at the helm was 2023. Trained alongside her predecessor and bringing experience from vineyards across France and Spain, Célénie represents an exciting new chapter for this nearly two-century-old house.
Her 2023 Bourgogne Chardonnay is a beautiful expression of traditional white Burgundy, combining the freshness and minerality of northern vineyards with the richness and roundness of the Mâconnais and Côte Chalonnaise.
Aged for six to eight months, primarily in stainless steel with 20% in oak barrels, the wine offers inviting aromas of citrus, ripe pear, and white orchard fruits. On the palate, it is fresh yet wonderfully rounded, with a velvety texture, balanced acidity, and an elegant mineral finish.
And the critics have noticed! The 2023 vintage earned two Gold Medals at the Concours des Burgondia and a Bronze Medal at the International Wine & Spirit Competition.
A delightful white Burgundy that offers both history and a fresh perspective.
Perfect with: Roast chicken, grilled fish, seared scallops, fresh pasta, or a selection of French cheeses.
