This is a deep and complex red from the Priorat DOCa, in Catalonia, Spain. A blend of Carignan and Garnacha grapes from vineyards 10 - 90 years old. The wine is fermented in a combination of concrete tanks, large cement tanks, and used French barrels, with 3 years in bottle before release.
Tasting Notes: Intense dark fruits like dark cherry, plum, and blackcurrant, a strong minerality, and hints of tobacco, dried rosemary, and cedar. Concentrated flavors and tannins that persist through a long finish, and are balanced by an equally persistent acidity.
The “Vi de Vila” designation was adopted by the DOQ Priorat in 2009, allowing Priorat wineries to label their wines as direct expressions of their villages’ terroirs.
