Pertois-Moriset Chouilly Grand Cru 2018 — is a mono-village Champagne because all the Chardonnay grapes come from Chouilly, a Grand Cru-classified village in the Côte des Blancs.
A Grand Cru Chardonnay from Chouilly gives pedigree and terroir specificity. The winemaker’s attention to detail (barrel work, lees ageing, malolactic block) means more depth and nuance than a simple non-vintage offering. The 2018 vintage in Champagne was generally very good: warm, ripe, but in good sites allowed freshness and acidity to balance the richness.
