A remarkable expression of Cru Beaujolais, this exceptional Moulin-à-Vent comes from ancient Gamay vines planted in 1903, now more than 120 years old. Rooted in the region's distinctive pink granite soils, these venerable vines produce fruit of extraordinary concentration, depth and character.
Yohan Lardy is among the exciting new generation of Beaujolais winemakers, crafting wines that emphasize purity of fruit, traditional winemaking and a genuine sense of place. His Vieilles Vignes de 1903 is a beautiful example of why Moulin-à-Vent is often considered the most Burgundian of the Beaujolais crus.
The 2024 vintage offers enticing aromas of ripe black cherries, wild raspberries, violets and delicate spice. On the palate, layers of dark red fruit unfold with remarkable freshness, fine-grained tannins and an elegant mineral backbone. Richly textured yet beautifully balanced, the wine finishes long and refined.
This is serious, age-worthy Gamay with the complexity and finesse to appeal to lovers of fine red Burgundy. Enjoy it now with roasted poultry, duck, pork tenderloin or grilled lamb, or cellar it for additional complexity. Drink now with an hour or so decant and through 2037.
