Brunello di Montalcino is made with a local Tuscan type of Sangiovese referred to as Brunello or Sangiovese Grosso. Some also call it Prugnolo Gentile. Noted for having thicker-skinned berries, and because of this, Brunello produces wines with exceptionally bold fruit flavors, high tannin, and high acidity.

Tricerchi’s  Brunello is a blend of fruit from three different vineyards: Vigna del Velo, Vigna del Castello, and Vigna dei Cipressi, with a varying range of exposures. Juicy yet refined, with brisk acids and minerals, red and blue berries across a saline core. Flavors carry on through the palate assisted by black tea-like tannins – not bitter but a bit chewy. It finishes pretty and poised withs hints of licorice and purple florals. This 2017 Brunello is drinking great today, but with its long macerations, it will certainly improve for the next decade and beyond.
