From the venerable Louis Barruol of Chateau St. Cosme in Gigondas, this is one of the more approachable Côtes du Rhônes I've had in quite a while. Les Deux Albion distinguishes itself from other bottlings from the Barruol family as it comes from old vines (60 years on average) of Syrah, Grenache and Mourvèdre.
"This seductive red offers a lot to like, with ripe red fruit and toasted aniseed notes showing an invigorating layer of white and black pepper through the harmonious, medium- to full-bodied frame.
