From the northern plateau of Châteauneuf-du-Pape comes this remarkable old-vine Grenache crafted by the Souret family of Domaine de Châteaumar. Named for the winemaker's son, Bastien, this distinctive Côtes du Rhône is produced entirely from Grenache vines more than 50 years old.
Aged in concrete rather than oak, the wine beautifully preserves the generous fruit and savory character of southern Rhône Grenache. Aromas of ripe cherries, wild raspberries, Provençal herbs and subtle spice lead to a rich, supple palate with soft tannins and a lingering, gently peppery finish.
A wonderful companion to roasted meats, grilled lamb, hearty stews and Mediterranean cooking.
