Plan de Dieu lies on a broad, sun-drenched plain not far from Gigondas and Vacqueyras. Its vineyards are characterized by clay-rich soils covered with the rounded stones so closely associated with the Southern Rhône. Domaine de Verquière, a family estate based in nearby Sablet, farms organically and produces its Plan de Dieu primarily from Grenache, complemented by Syrah.
This is why we love discovering wines beyond the famous names. Plan de Dieu gives you the ripe fruit, spice and savory character that make Southern Rhône reds so appealing, but at a price that makes it an easy bottle to open any night of the week
This is an ideal October red. Try it with roast chicken, pork tenderloin, grilled sausages, lamb, burgers, beef stew or cassoulet. It's also a great bottle for a cool evening with a plate of aged cheese and charcuterie.
