Chateau D’Arsac, dating back to the 12th Century, is one of the most historically important properties in the Medoc. The heart of the estate is the Monteil hillside. As the winery explains:
Le Monteil d’Arsac used to be the estate’s first wine, made from vines planted on the Monteil hillside, on the highest part of the estate.
Eric Boissenot, the oenologist here, also oversees Lafite, Latour, Mouton and Margaux. So yes, the wine from this historic property is quite well made.
The winery calls their 2016 “a great vintage, with very beautiful aromas, ripe, velvety tannins and both elegance and power.” They compare it to their great 2010, but just a bit richer and more substantial.
The 2016 vintage was historic and this wine is now hitting it's stride.
